Iguazu

The Iguazú Falls are the most overwhelming falls in South America. Iguazú means “Great Waters” in the Guaraní Indian tongue. It is difficult to imagine the thrill Portuguese discoverer Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca must have felt when in 1541 he encountered this marvel of nature, the awesome sight of the thundering waterfalls, the colours and its magnificence.

The falls are located on the limit between Argentina and Brazil and can be visited from either side which are not far apart. The Brazilian side offers a post-card view of the magnificent scenery, a panoramic, travelling view, while the Argentine side offers a close-up view.
