Isaias Miciu Nicolaevici was born in Montevideo, Uruguay (1985). He spent the first 8 years of his childhood in the mountain ranges of Cordoba until his family moved to San Martin de los Andes. It is here, in Northern Patagonia where he discovered a real passion for fly fishing. So as a fly-fisherman and wild-nature lover, he selected photography as a way to express it. In 2006, he was hired to work as a photographer in the Caribbean where he took varied courses to improve his photography skills. A few years later in Argentina, he did a workshop with Brazilian photographer Theo Ribeiro and acquired extensive knowledge in digital technology. As an assistant to his brother Eliseo Miciu (featured photographer), he travelled throughout Argentina working on a number of productions. Notably, he was employed in a National Geographic production and in advertising campaigns for the Province of Salta and by many other companies and ranches. Later Isaias participated in an advertising production for BERETTA of Italy with the great photographer Marcos Furer who he considers a source of inspiration. He made a trip around the Nordic countries and Russia to broaden his experience and strive to improve his photography each day. To us, Isaias and Eliseo are our most revered nature photographers.
Haunting bellows of the rutting season.
On a hard misty morning while following another old stag that could be heard but not seen, because of the thick fog, suddenly another call rose closer and closer from one side and towards us. We were unable to sight the deer until it was a couple dozen yards away. The buck threw back his magnificent head and let out a deep roar. Living this utopian moment made me forget everything else for a few minutes until the fog started to lift...

After an unsuccessful day of stalking red-stag at Estancia Collun-Co, as I was walking back to my car quite disappointed, some instinct called me to turn my head around and look back, when I spotted this guy looking at me as a “sentinel”. I had to set up the camera in the same second as I pointed with it, and managed to shoot twice before the stag was gone. This is the first shot, the second one came out a blur…

While photographing a working ranch, I was told that the gauchos were working with the herds and were going to make an “aparte campero” (separate the livestock in the barnyard). When getting closer the taskmaster told me it was not going to be possible to shoot any photos because of the dust being so dense and coloured at sunset. This made me even more anxious to get there! (Photographing gaucho scenes has always caught my attention, and situations like this one thrill me immensely).
“But you will destroy your gear there”, he told me.
“Who doesn't risks, never succeeds!” I answered.
I got into the barnyard giving a shout to the gauchos to let them know I was there. Once inside, I wanted this moment to last forever, but the sun went down in just a few minutes. I knew this was one of those situations I’d been chasing for years …

Puma-stalking in the steppelands of Estancia Quemquemtreu.
After a long sneaky walk, I came across these curious guys who were trying to figure out what I was…, when I noticed the layers of the hills and the perfect silhouette of the Lanin volcano in the background. I knew the shot was there before the Guanacos moved away keeping the "social distance”.

Trying to find the main subject in such a an empty landscape, this young lady came walking at the perfect last 15 minutes of daylight and I saw the shot, but needing a higher spot, I had to climb up on top of my car before the figure became too small …, a small dent on the roof still reminds me quite often of this shot …

Walking by the river on a perfect sunny and windless day, I came across a quiet pool with dust on the surface and a trout rising in the distance. Armed with patience, I knew that the fish was going to get closer and it actually did. After a half hour standing still as a rock trying not to spook him …
